Addressing defense and security professionals at the annual I/ITSEC conference, projectiondesign used the opportunity to preview two new projectors, the FL35 wqxga, and the FS32 IR.
The annual Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference, I/ITSEC, is the world's largest defense and security trade show, attracting more than 8000 exhibition visitors and 8000 exhibit personnel. Held during the last week of November each year, it is the place to be for solutions and products aimed at the Armed Forces and the defense and security industries.
Introducing the new FL35 wqxga and FS32 IR projectors, both based on 2nd generation LED technology, and showing them in real life applications was a huge success and thrill for visitors.
The FL35 wqxga was set up in a 6-channel 220x90 degree Field of View (FOV) dome display from Immersive Display Solutions, and featured a total of 22 Megapixels effective display for 1.8 arc-minutes per pixel resolution, surpassing any other standard solution available. The IG running the Rotary Wing simulation content was FlightSafety's Vital X, running through projectiondesign's own WB2560 Multi Image Processors. What's more, all projectors were connected to a single 13A electrical outlet, reducing power requirements and installation complexity. The FL35 wqxga is based on the renown F35 wqxga, and shares lenses and mechanics with the industry standard platform.
All projector alignment and calibration was automatically done using Scalable Technologies' Scalable Displays Manager software and camera based alignment tools.
Side by side with the dome was a faceted fast jet simulator, also from FlightSafety, but powered by an RSI Visual Systems IG, using F35 wqxga projectors, as well as a demonstration of the Full Spectrum FS32 IR + RGB. Using 3rd Generation NVGs this was attended by several visitors and found to be a very close to real-life situation.
Also on the booth was the recently launched F35 AS3D, displaying content in 3D at 120 Hz. With its full-frame 120 Hz and adjustable Smear Reduction Processing, it is a perfect proejctor for various simulation requirements.
